2025 marks the fifteenth annual program and will feature human interest and civil rights documentaries and dramatic readings. A partnership with California Newsreel, the screenings are free and open to the public.
The NorcalMLK Foundation's Liberation Film Festival (LFF), in collaboration with California Newsreel, is a dynamic showcase of human interest documentaries and short features meticulously curated to ignite meaningful civic and social justice engagement. Embedded within the annual MLK celebrations, this festival serves as a powerful platform for education and inspiration.
LFF introduces diverse audiences to thought-provoking films that delve into pressing issues of civil rights, social justice, and equality. These films are carefully chosen to foster dialogue, raise awareness, and drive positive change within our communities.
More than just a film festival, LFF is a catalyst for action and reflection, echoing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s call for meaningful, transformative progress. It offers a unique opportunity for attendees to engage with filmmakers, experts, and fellow audience members, sparking essential conversations and encouraging collective efforts towards a more just and equitable world. The Liberation Film Festival is where the art of storytelling converges with the spirit of activism, amplifying Dr. King's legacy and inspiring ongoing advocacy for a better future.
The Film Festival begins on Saturday, January 18 and continues through Monday, January 20. Stay tuned for the 2025 line-up and locations.
